A LITTLE ABOUT
THE ASSIGNMENT
In autumn 2022, an exciting assignment ticked into our inbox. An assignment we only needed three seconds to think about, before we answered "YES"!
The sender?
The Cancer Society.
The mission?
"Can you help us think a little new and creatively about our traditional donor letter/DM to cold addresses" ( you know; those thin, pre-franked A4 letters with a yellow giro at the bottom).
A phone call later, we realized that 5 other Oslo agencies had received the same inquiry. So then it was just a matter of cracking open the typing fingers and scribbling our way to an award-winning pitch!
And yes – we won the mission.
HOW WE FIXED IT
Because more and more people we know will get cancer, we know that (1 in 3 Norwegians will get cancer during their lifetime). And that the group around a cancer patient wants to help is certain and certain. But many are unsure of what actually helps. Should you send flowers, or will it be too much? Should you ask how things are going, or talk about something nicer (you don't want to spoil the mood)? Should you invite a cancer patient to a party, or just make it worse (they can't take it?) And one more thing; is it allowed to ask about the forecast?
